Is it worth repairing a car that failed its MOT?
If the repair bill is close to or more than the car is worth, it rarely is. Corroded subframes, welding on the sills, failed emissions or a tired engine can easily cost more than the car's value. Get a scrap quote first, then compare it with the garage estimate.
Can you collect a car that won't start or drive?
Yes. Our recovery truck winches non-runners on, so flat batteries, seized engines, snapped cambelts, blown head gaskets and gearbox failures are all fine. Just make sure we can get the truck reasonably close to the vehicle.
Can I scrap a car with no MOT?
Yes. A car does not need a valid MOT or tax to be scrapped — you only need to be the registered keeper. We come to you, so it never has to be driven on the road.
What do I need to have ready?
Photo ID, the V5C logbook if you still have it (we can work without it), and the keys. We notify the DVLA and send your certificate of destruction afterwards.
How much is an MOT failure worth?
