What it is
A certificate of destruction (CoD) is the official DVLA record that your vehicle has been scrapped at an authorised treatment facility and can never legally return to the road.
Why it matters
Once the CoD is issued, the car is off your name. No more tax, no more insurance, and no fines or penalties for anything that happens to it afterwards.
